Collectors

For a most people, especially a collector one singular object is never enough "a total set marking the accomplishment of a mission". Once owning one object the collector is satisfied but yet still feels anxiety and frustration knowing that there's more of the set that is incomplete "upsets the solitary status".

"Once the object stops being defined by it's function, its meaning is entirely up to the subject."

"All objects in a collection become equivalent, thanks to that process of passionate abstraction we call possession."

Status:
"This fanaticism is always identical, whether in the case of the rich man specialising in Persian miniatures, or of the pauper who hoards matchboxes."

One type of collector could be the person that is some what seen as a "connoisseur - one who adores objects because of their beguiling singularity and differences. And then the other type could be the the collector who collects to complete the set not because of the beauty and love he has for the items but has the "prospect of limitless substitution and play".
